The science

Twelve active ingredients.
One nightly capsule.

Nightfall's formula is built around compounds studied in human trials — at the doses researchers actually used, not the underdosed sprinkle that lets a brand list them on the label. Here's the evidence.

Nightfall is a food supplement, not a medicine. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication.

5 mg

Melatonin

Signals your brain that it's time to sleep — supporting the natural circadian rhythm disrupted by screens, shift work and jet lag.

A 2013 meta-analysis in PLOS ONE (Ferracioli-Oda et al.) of 19 randomised trials found melatonin significantly reduced sleep-onset latency and improved total sleep time versus placebo, with no evidence of dependence.

100 mg elemental

Magnesium Bisglycinate

Relaxes muscle tension and downregulates the nervous system without gastrointestinal side-effects. Paired with 10 mg zinc bisglycinate for co-factor support.

A 2022 systematic review in BMC Complementary Medicine found magnesium supplementation improved sleep quality (PSQI score) across 11 controlled trials. Bisglycinate is preferred for sleep — superior absorption and the calming effect of the bound glycine.

200 mg + 100 mg

L-Theanine + GABA

L-theanine increases alpha brain-wave activity — the pre-sleep 'calm-alert' state — within 30–45 minutes. GABA is the brain's primary inhibitory neurotransmitter.

A 2019 meta-analysis in Nutrients reported an average 12-minute reduction in sleep-onset latency at 200 mg L-theanine. Non-sedating, no dependency profile.

chamomile · passionflower · valerian · lemon balm · hops

Botanical Blend

A traditional herbal stack that has been used for centuries and studied for its combined effect on nervous-system relaxation and sleep quality.

Valerian and hops (2010, Phytotherapy Research) and passionflower (2011, Phytotherapy Research) each showed sleep-quality improvements in placebo-controlled trials. Chamomile's apigenin binds GABA-A receptors; lemon balm reduces evening anxiety scores.

25 mg + 2 mg

5-HTP + Vitamin B6

5-HTP is the direct precursor to serotonin, which the brain converts into melatonin overnight. B6 is the required co-factor for that conversion.

Multiple studies (e.g. 2010, Sleep Medicine Reviews) associate 5-HTP with improved sleep architecture and reduced night-time awakenings when combined with GABA.

Why the combination matters

Sleep isn't one thing. Falling asleep is a nervous-system problem. Staying asleep is a muscle-tension and cortisol problem. Waking clear is a GABA and serotonin problem. Nightfall combines the evidence-backed compounds for each because no single molecule solves all three — and the compound effect is why customers report changes by night four, not night forty.
